I have a not-so-surprising news flash. Men’s sweaters are boring to knit. They’re just so… rectangular! At least I have my little bits of ribbing at the sides to keep it slightly interesting. But I did cringe just a little when the instructions set up the foundation row and there’s no change for FOURTEEN INCHES. Seriously.
At least the colors are pretty!
I am having a bit of concern about the rolling action in the middle. I probably should have added some ribs along the bottom, but I didn’t think of it until it was too late. Dropping down that many stitches always ends up looking messy, I think. So, will a single crochet border really stop the rolling? I guess I can always go back and add ribbing along the whole bottom edge after its all seamed up.

You can always go back and add ribbing, I’m not sure a single crocheted edge will do it unless you do a couple rows of it. The color is gorgeous!
If it continues to bug you after blocking, you can always pick up and add stitches!
We are in the same boat again – I am doing a ribbed sweater for Kris right now and it is pretty boring. (That is until I get to the sleeves with all of the cables!)
Take care~
My personal experience is that sometime the sc helps and sometimes not. What I found on my last project was that the yarn I was using ironed out really well…a total surprise. Maybe you’ll get lucky and a hot iron will help cure the roll!
I’m with Jennifer.
The reward will come when someone say ‘that’s a great sweater.’ and he will reply, ‘Thanks, it was handknit for me.’
Where is this pattern from? You’re right, the colors do look pretty.
I would hope that a SC row and some super steam action woud do the trick for you.
