The first few days of the Tour de France Knit-Along have been really fun. I’ve watched more cycling than ever before in my life, which has also inspired me to get out on my bike for several good rides of my own.
On the knitting front, I’m going for the King of the Mountains jersey by attempting to conquer my mountain of unfinished knitting projects. On the first day of the Tour, I counted 6 unfinished projects:
Colorado Lodge Socks
Summer Shimmer Scarf
Alpaca Ribbon Scarf
Star Sweater (for me)
Saranac Sweater (for Matt)
Craft Hope hats
I am happy to report that only a week into the KAL I have finished 4 projects! (Of course, they were the ones with the least left to do, but still!)
My favorite is the Alpaca Ribbon Scarf, which I started almost a year ago and intended to give as a gift for Christmas 2008. Oh well, there’s always this year, right?
What projects have been hanging around your needles, sewing machine, etc. waaaaaay too long?
I started my first pair of socks – two socks on one circular needle – last August and have done about 3″ of ribbing. Everytime I start to do them I have to rewatch the video about how to do them! So far I haven’t knitted at all on this vacation – just too much to do! Love seeing your projects and love, love, love the Shimmering in the Sun scarf – gorgeous!
lookie at you go!
my twist sweater, I finished both the sleeves and then stalled on the body. I want to knit the fronts and back as one piece then just decrease for the armholes. I really dislike seaming. hmmm, maybe I should pick that back up?
Wow, that top pic of the scarf looks beautiful. Are those lavendar baby bonnets? Love ‘em! Doesn’t it feel so nice to finally complete some of those projects!?
Inspiring! Both my Something Red and Serrano sweaters have been on the needles for way too long. I need to finish at least one by the end of the month.
Way to go! I love that ribbon scarf – very pretty. And the Colorado Lodge socks are awesome. What a fun way to remember your vacation and keep your feet warm.
I’ve dragged a hibernating project back into the light – a sweater for the mister. His birthday is coming up in a couple of months, so hopefully I can crank it out for him.
Excellent work on the wip mountain! I too have one. But I am steadfastly ignoring it. Until it falls over on me…
well…i do have your quilt to finish.
