I love that aspect of quilting! I find it sad that in the more modern-day, hobby quilting, the thrift and backstory are lost. I mean, the newer quilts are still beautiful, but it seems like there is something missing.

I may want to join your hand-dyed yarn swap in the future, or even Project Spectrum overall. Is it okay to join late? (I'm not ready yet -- I have to at least try my hand at dying before I'd want to send out what I've produced. It's like my mom's old rule about never cooking a new recipe for company. Kind of boring, but safe.)

I definitely come from a crafty family - both of my grandmothers were weavers, my mom is a quilter (Big Time) and most of my aunts cross-stitch or crochet. My sister and I were raised crafty - we learned cross-stich and needlepoint, plus sewing, from a very early age. Even my dad got in on the crafty yarn-dyeing action during my most recent visit home!

My family is totally crafty. My mom is really into cross stitch and all sorts of crafts, and all of my grandmas were quilters. I am certain it runs in the genes.

Yes, crafty runs in my family! I am the first knitter in 2 generations, as my grandmother and my mother were both into sewing and needlepoint. However, now my mother, and my sisters have taken up knitting! :) Fun topic!

That is a nice card! Great story about the quilts. My Grandma is one of those Depression-Era thrifty grandma's too- she saves ketchup packets! :)

Oh, maybe I can start making fabric cards! more crafts for when I live with you next year! I also always loved grandma's quilts. Do I need to claim the ones I want now? hehehe.

Crafty does run in my family. I think the only thing crafty I do that mom doesn't is cross stitching and even that I learned from her. I like it, she doesn't.
