Grrr. Argh!
Remember those yellow Jaywalkers? The ones I attempted surgery on and failed, so I was forced to reknit the entire gusset? Well...
I finally decided it might be a good idea to try them on. (Full disclosure: I don't knit gauge swatches for socks.) Yeah, you can probably guess what's coming next, right? Yep, you guessed it: Too small. It requires a shoehorn it get my heel into the things - I may have broken a few strands while trying to extract my foot from its death grip.
So, I have a question for you.... what should Zarah do?
(a) Knit on, but gift them to a small footed friend or maybe a small child.
(b) Rip and start again with more stitches
(c) Put it in a dark closet and back away slowly. We shall never speak of this again.
(d) Other
Whatever you advise me, I think this is definitely a sign from the knitting gods that I need to take a break from the small needles for a while! Coming up: pattern #2 from MDK - the baby kimono! (No, Mom, I'm not pregnant. But lots of my friends are!)

Hey Sarah, yeah we are pretty sure that we are moving after the first of the year. It just is tooo far from home. I'm happy about it though I will miss it here. We went to Bandandas BBQ last night. Uber-disappointed. I have been dieing for some ggod BBQ. Maybe we should make some. Dane has discovered a great rib recipe, best i've ever had!!

I think it depends on how you feel. If you feel like throwing the yarn out the window, put it away in a closet and forget about it for a while. If you feel determined to show the yarn who's boss, then I'd rip and reknit using bigger needles.

If it were me and I loved the yarn, then I would just unravel it and put it aside for now. I would love to see the Baby Kimono!!! I am knitting my first baby item now but it is just for the experience to learn how a sweater is constructed, buttonholes, picking up sts around neck...that kind of stuff.

I've seen mentions of the Jaywalkers being too small from other bloggers. I'd do a search or check in the archives of www.january.com from her Jaywalker knitalong, it maybe give you some guidance.

My vote is to frog the socks, rewind the yarn and do something else. Jaywalker isn't going anywhere and you can try the pattern again when the mojo is there.

I vote you give them away. To work on them so long, and then have to re-do again... that would drive me nuts.

I ripped a nearly-entire Jaywalker this past Sunday. Love love love the yarn, love the way the pattern looks, but don't love knitting it and don't love how tight it is and don't love the idea of any work on this particular pattern to make it bigger. Call me lazy. The yarn is sitting patiently now, awaiting my next sock inspiration. I'm doing other things for now.
Tomorow is another day.
