FO: Carla!

Carla!

Project Details:

Pattern: Carla, It's a Tape Thing by Kim Hargreaves for Rowan

Yarn: Rowan Cotton Tape, 6 skeins (one skein less than recommended - I'm livin' on the edge, baby!)

Needle Size: Size 11 and 13, knitting flat with my Denise circular needle set

Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, yarn over, weird weaving technique on sleeves, cast off, creative seaming

Pattern Modifications: None!  I'm not sure if the sleeves were supposed to be 3/4 length, but it's a good thing because I would haev run out of yarn otherwise.  I think this is the first knitted item that was long enough on my torse without making modifications.  Thanks Miss Hargreaves!

Time to knit:   About 2 weeks, including seaming.  I really liked the instant gratification of knitting with this thick yarn on big needles.

Final impressions: I really like this pattern - I wore it out tonight and it wasn't too hot even though it has long sleeves - lots of breathing room!

And now the question.... what to knit next?  I think I should swatch for my husband's sweater, but.... merino wool in July?!?!?

Carla is beautiful! It looks very comfortable, too. Hmmmm... I'd either knit the husband's sweater (what color Tess yarn did you get?) or the socks. But then, I'm partial to socks :-)

oh! it looks fabulous :) i would like to knit that, but since i don't have the yarn or the book .... and i'm on this "yarn diet!" ... i'll have to just admire & envy your's and lolly's.

The sweater looks great. I really like that color. After seeing your's and Lolly's I've started digging through my stash to see if I have any yarn to a Carla for me.

It looks just great in that color! Yea! nothing like a fast sweater, huh? the sleeves look great too. How did the seaming go? I was happy with the longer torso pattern too. I made my sleeves 3/4 length on purpose, but yours worked out perfectly with amount of yarn you had.

Great job, Z!

Carla looks wonderful. I have to ask how it was seaming her up, because the thick yarn/tape and the large gauge would have me worrying about how the seaming would look.

Nice work on Carla. It looks great on you. Good luck picking your next project. It's hard to get excited about working with wool in the summer. If you started the sweater now, at least it would be done in time for him to wear it this fall.

Very pretty. I really like it - the color and style are very flattering.

Carla is lovely! You knit it so quickly! Now I want to start Carla even more!

I think you could probably do wool in July if you were in an air conditioned room.

Carla, in that color especially, is looking so good on you:D Why not get started on hubby's sweater and if it gets too hot start on another of your gorgeous looking projects? You'll be that much closer to finishing each without breaking a sweat;D

Zarah, that looks super! I guess you have had lots of free time, i'm impressed at how quickly that came together. It looks like the color of you bridesmaids dress.

I love it. And I miss my Kaldi's from St. Louis. But I am finding good places in New York.

That turned out so pretty! Isn't it great to be able to wear a handknitted item during the summer?
