Slowly but Surely

Yes, I am actually making some progress on the Cambridge Jacket!

These are the two fronts of the sweater - I need to knit about four more inches on each before I reach the armholes. Despite my best efforts, I managed to make one longer than the other - which is exactly what I was trying to avoid by knitting them at the same time. Luckily at this point they're just ribby rectangles, so it was relatively painless to count the rows and figure out how many rows I needed to knit to match them up.

I worked on this last Sunday at the first Yarnaholics meeting of the fall. Everyone really liked the yarn and how the colors are turning out. I'm SOOO happy that there hasn't been any pooling so far! (knock on wood!)

(Speaking of my knitting group, if you're a Springfield, MO area knitter - we meet every other Sunday afternoon at 2pm at Panera on E. Sunshine. )

Work is still crazy, but I am looking forward to the long weekend. Luckily, a trial that I had scheduled for Sept. 5 got postponed. I've been working a "real job" for about two years now, and I've decided that being a grown-up is really tiring! I really don't know how you do it once kids come into the picture. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Have a good day!

Cambridge is coming along so nicely!

Yeah, being a grown up is very tiring. Kids make it more tiring, but you get lots of other benefits too!

I hear ya on the grown-up life. It really stinks sometimes.

I can't wait to see the jacket when it's done. The yarn is beautiful!

I miss you so much. Growing up... wow! Sometimes I wish I was still back in high school. I'll be back in Springfield over the weekend. Let's do Project Runway soon! love ya.

I hear ya - this real job thing is for the birds. Do you think they'd let us go back to law school? The sweater is looking great. My solution to the kids thing is to just not have any :-D

wow your really moving a long on his sweater!
Sometimes I wish I could go back to kindergarten, when my only worry was getting caught eating paste! ; )

Yeah, I often think this real job thing isn't so hot. How do people do it for 40 years?? Plus, it interferes so much with my knitting time.

Hi Zarah,
Your cambridge jacket is looking great! I'm feeling a bit guilty because I've let my stint of sample knitting for my LYS take precedence over my husband's jacket. But I'll try to get back to it soon. I love the effect of the slightly variegated yarn with the simple clean lines of the jacket.

When I knit two pieces at the same time like sleeves or fronts I contect them with a safety pin and (hard learned that one) NEVER stop between the two pieces, I always knit at least a few stitches on the secon piece if I need to stop there, to ensure I know which way I have to go.
