According to Gym

GYM - EQUIPMENT INSIDE

Last week I was whining that I’d lost my motivation for training. This week, I got my mojo back – sort of. I did actually work out this week, and I also discovered a few things.
1. I really like to train with a partner. Preferably someone I know well enough to ask to get up and run with me at 6am, but not so well that they won’t tease me relentlessly if I call and cancel at 5:55 so I can crawl back into bed.
2. Getting up when its still dark is hard. I know I can do it but I haven’t convinced my 6am self of that yet.
3. Running on a treadmill all the time sucks, but it does allow me to catch up on ridiculous episodes of Making the Band that I didn’t even know existed!

Since I was too lazy to drag my butt out of bed before work to exercise, I went to the gym several days this week. It’s probably good for me to mix up my routine a little bit – I noticed the day after I did the elliptical trainer that I was a little sore, which normally never happens when I run. I am planning on doing a longer (5-6 mile) run tomorrow morning. Hopefully the storms will hold off until later and I’ll be able to run outside again!

I hate the gym (well, except when I go for karate). But, good for you getting in all your exercise this week.

That is great, Z! Pass on some motivation to me! I am doing alright, but I need to do better - this week was hard for some reason.

I wish I could work out @ 6 - I am leaving for work at 6 - I would have to wake up at 4:30, and ahem, that is not happening. I have to work out in the evenings.

I've been doing the getting up in the morning and running thing too. It is tough; but the fact that I have a deadline that I've told everyone about motivates me to get moving.
I have 8 weeks to diet down for my first figure competition. I've already been dieting for 7. Since last year I've lost about 50 pounds thru exercise and eating.
Best wishes to you for striving to acheive your goal. Some mornings/days might be tougher than others but never give up on yourself.

I liked working out at the gym in my 20's. I did some Jazzercise in my 30's which was A LOT of fun. The home stationary bike has been a friend to me in my 40's. Have you thought about joining Curves to mix things up? I hear tell you don't get bored with it and you could also have days to run. How many more weeks is it til your race?

Isn't t.v. a great distraction at the gym?

I have been really bummed because my ipod kinda died on me, and there is no good reality t.v. at 6 a.m. when I go to the gym. So I have been staying at home instead. hee hee..
Good for you though! Mixing your routine does help!

I love to run, but where I live it is both rolling hills and the weather is not so great-lots of ice and snow. I run on the tread-mill and have come to love it I have a magazine or book to read and my iPod.

I am also doing aerobics-which I hate, but it burns alot of calories and can be a little less monotomous-did I spell that right?
