Stash Management
Compared to many knitbloggers out there, this is an extremely reasonable amount of yarn. However, my husband loves to remind me that this is not the standard I should be measuring myself against - to "normal" people this is a LOT of yarn.
I have to say I agree with him. There's not much in here that I hate, but there's plenty that I will likely never get around to using. I don't like to admit that to myself, but it's true. I enjoy shopping for yarn and I will never be able to keep from shopping long enough to knit up everything I have.
I wish I had time to knit up everything I have for charity or some other good cause, but it's just not going to happen. I've been knitting steadily for almost 2 years now, and some of this stuff has been hanging around WAY too long.
So, in honor of reaching 1000 comments - which should be happening in the next week or so - I'm going to give the lucky thousandth commenter their pick of my sock yarn stash. (And probably # 990 and #1010, too!)
I think this will be one of my contributions to Socktoberfest - sending some sock yarn out into the world to become socks!
See anything in there you like?

That's not a stash! I have an entire closet filled with yarn. The only thing I have more of is clothes, or maybe shoes, hmmm could be boots....Either way, I'm sure so-called "normal" people also have their weirdness. It's just not yarn. They might collect bells, or clown figurines, or orchids, or ribbon......

Well, yeah, I see stuff I like! Count me in!

Your mini stash is looking like a pretty good START;D I really hate to show you mine! I'm working at stash busting, but who can resist the call of YARN!:D

I see a couple things I really like. Think I'll stick around and comment more!

Have you read the Yarn Harlot's books? She talks about stash, and about how some of it will never be knit and that's ok. I think your stash is fine! Of course you're hearing this from someone who has a sizeable stash. My husband teases and complains about it too. Of course maybe he has a good reason to. :-)

Seems reasonable to me. And what do muggles know about stash? Don't believe a word that husband of yours tells you about yarn. He is not to be trusted. Anyway, I think your idea for Socktoberfest is great.

Aw, your stashlet is so cute! (I flashed mine in April, and believe me, your husband would be scared!)
But I always need more sock yarn - hope I win!

*L* Mike and I don't talk about my stash. I remind him that my "hobby" is a lot cheaper than his, doesn't run up the electric bill and won't be useless in 10 years. (He is a computer nut)
btw you have a cute little stash

For a while I've been trying not to have a stash but it just creeps up on you. I'm very proud of you for managing your stash early. And you've inspired me to try and rid myself of some of the crap I have and know I'll never knit with.
That being said--I would love some more sock yarn! :)

I don't make Bryan feel guilty about his baseball cards and he doesn't make me feel guilty about my yarn. It's a beautiful relationship!

My hubby & I have the same conversation about my stash... which is also, I feel, very reasonable in size. At least yours is nicely organized!

hmm...should I be worried about the fact that your whole stash is smaller than what I got rid of when I cleaned up a while ago? I swear it's not my fault, here there are people who don't sell yarn by the ounce or gram, but by the kg lol!

hey zarah, congrats on the fast approaching milestone! that's great. my blog is severly untended and not read at all. i really need to devote some time to sprucing it up a bit. I appreciate your checking in! I think you're my only reader so far ;)
the yarn fest was great on sunday, but like i said, i was way too shy. next time, i'll try to be more bold.
your stash, by the way, isn't too bad at all. i've recently started knitting samples for my LYS. that's one way to get my knitting fix satisfied without having the guilt of unworn knits lying around.

Your stash is about the same as mine. I am trying so hard to knit it all away! LOL

How is the comment count going? Must feel pretty good to be getting close to the 1000 mark!

That's a pretty tiny stash!

Congrats on your return to the gym and your upcoming milestone...your stash of sock yarn made me drool a little. Good luck on keeping motivated and stashbusting

Hey thanks for the email...

Hey - Where is the Post-Cleaning of the Craft Room picture?
I may have a charitable project for you and all knitting buds! How about donating new yarn to a non-profit organization to sell to incarcerated women at a state correctional facility? All the proceeds from the sale of yarn and other craft items will go to provide funding for a program called PATCH (Parents And Their CHildren) to provide transportation, supervision and all the administrative work to bring children of incarcerated women to the state correctional facility to visit them. More later.... we have lots of paperwork to wade through yet but what do you think?

That stash is modest in comparison to others I've seen! ;) I love the storage bin though.
