Running in the rain

Running in the rain
Originally uploaded by gaotsin.
It's been a rainy couple of weeks in the Ozarks. Combine this with pitch black mornings (at 6am) and Zarah is not too excited about getting out of bed in the morning to go running. But, as long as its not too cold out, running in the rain is really not that bad. I never regret it when I do get up and run when its raining.

This morning it was about 55 degrees and just misting. It was actually quite nice, until lightning started flashing and I was afraid I would get caught in a downpour. I groaned, but my optimistic running partner chirped, "Who cares, we're already wet!" True, I guess, but it was way too early for such a good attitude!

I've got a 10 miler on the schedule for tomorrow - here's hoping for clear skies!

On a completely unrelated note: did anyone hear the news story on NPR this morning about the stem cell ballot initiative in Missouri? I didn't hear it, but my sister called me to tell me that they were reporting from a town hall meeting in my small hometown!  (Hopefully we didn't come off sounding too hickish.)

Have a good weekend, everyone!

Your running stories are very inspirational--especially to someone who detests exercise :)

If we could leave video comments, I would do a running cheer for you! Just picture me jumping around like a maniac and yelling stuff like Yaaaaaay ZARAH! :)

Wow! You are dedicated! I actually love running in the rain, as I don't get as overheated.

Go, Zarah! I, um, haven't run once until today since the half-m. However, I'm going to try to get back on the wagon ... You go! (PS, me, too, I keep drooling over the lizard ridge afghan. Did you see that Stacey at sheep in the city is hosting a knitalong?)

I must say that when you called me "optimistic" it actually made me laugh out loud. Funny Zarah! :)

good for you, running despite the weather! my knee has been making funny rice krispies noises when i bend, so i think i'll have to lay off running for a while and (horrors!) work out on the elliptical instead. i hope i'll be able to run again soon because nothing beats the high running provides.

THANKS!!!! I'm so excited. I was so nervous, I honestly did not think I passed cause I was so nervous in the test. Thanks girly. I'm sorry that we haven't been able to get together more. Mostly cause i'm anti-social and reclusive, haha. Thanks for always being my blog buddy here in MO though. I'll let you know when we get ready to move
