Loved reading this!Wished I got paid for all the pine cones I picked up in our yard back then:) We had lots of pine trees growing up in the south. I had my husband plant a smaller style one in our yard a few yrs ago. They smell great!

I sure could use the $ from the pine cones now...do you think she has increased pay to compensate for inflation?

Hi - I recently discovered your blog and really enjoy it. For me, it was picking up walnuts, not pine cones - but I think the rate of pay was the same!

I had forgotten that you wanted to do an architect! Did you ever get paid for picking up the pinecones? My dad used to hire my brother and I to pick up rocks in southwest Missouri but I don't think we collected the wages very often! There was a lot of job security though!
