Digging out
I survived my "snow day" - which actually turned out to be just a light dusting of snow on top of a massively thick layer of ice. (lovely) Right now it's cold and clear, and I think I should probably go into work, but our shovel won't go through the ice coating our driveway and our street hasn't been plowed yet.
We had another couple stay with us last night because they lost power at 7am yesterday and it still wasn't restored by the time it started to get dark. Needless to say, it was getting a little chilly over there. Apparently lots of power lines were down because there was so much ice on them that they broke - luckily that didn't happen at my house. But I know the power near the college campuses was out, so hopefully all the students found a warm place to sleep.
In the meantime, I guess I should show you my progrees on Lizard Ridge. Last month truly was Norovember for me... six squares blocked and another one finished. I really enjoy knitting this pattern, and the squares are small enough to knit up fairly quickly. I don't think I'll have any problem finishing this project as I get new balls of Noro here and there. (PS - I got 7 squares out of 5 skeins, plus about a third of a skein leftover.)
I am trying to remember which ones are the Frankensquares... I'm sure the bottom right is, and maybe the bottom center one too. I tried to match up the colors when I was joining leftover bits so it wouldn't be too noticeable.

Lizard Ridge is going to be so gorgeous! I can't tell which one is made up of different colorways.

Yeah... We got it in St. Louis too. LilMan & I are snowed in today, or rather, we are iced-in.
Lizard Ridge is looking really cool! And I can't tell at all which ones might be the "Frankensquares!"

Wow - tons of snow isn't too scary but that ice can be crazy. It makes walking and driving a scary prospect. At least snow days can giv eyou an excuse to relax and take an easier pace with your day.
Your squares look wonderful! I haven't blocked any of my squares yet, was it hard getting the bumps out?

Hi Zarah, sorry it's so cold and wintery where you are. Here, near nyc, it's still a balmy 60 or so. Very unexpected and i fear it'll make a turn for the worse soon. Love your Lizard Ridge squares. They're very colorful!

Hey Zarah - the Lizard Ridge squares look great! We didn't lose power, but our office closed early yesterday for the ice storm. Sorry you were snowed in, but it made for great knitting time! (This is why I want more snow!!)

YAY!I am so glad all is well at your household. I was wondering how it was going. It will be here in about two hours. Certainly not as bad as some areas. At least I hope not:)
Your Lizard Ridge is so full of many great color combinations! I especially like the bottom middle and the bottom far right ones.

the lizard ridge squares are stunning. i so want to make that, but do not have the money to invest in another blankie that's not machine washable :)
i think though, that i could maybe squeeze the money out by buying up colorways when i visit yarnshops that carry the yarn. right? yep!!
okay, i had a funny thought ... your mention of the college students finding a warm place to sleep ... (this is the distasteful knitter-girl speaking) ... don't they just all sleep with each other?! ha! ha! (that's the wine on an empty stomach talking)
i'm glad your power didn't go out so you could post your squares, and i'm glad you're stranded at home so you can hopefully knit more ;)

great squares! I'm having a hard time resisting starting this blanket!!! Glad to hear you survived the storm. somehow I managed to miss it. It hit western pa while I was in Boston, and hit boston while I was in western mass. turned out to be a good weekend for driving all over New England ; )
