Back to Springfield
Well, I've survived two days of work after the Spring Fling weekend. It's nice to get back in a routine, but I could have used another day off in between! I had planned to knit the sock I designed in Cookie A's class while at the Fling, but I didn't like how it was turning out, so I ended up mostly knitting this sweater while at the sock-knitting retreat. It's the Flutter Sleeve Cardi from IK Spring 08. Except, as you might be able to tell, I'm converting it to a Flutter Sleeve Sweater. I don't like dealing with buttons and button holes, so I figured a nice V-neck sweater would work just as well. I already have the back done, and the sleeves are integrated into the body of the sweater, so once I finish this section I just have to seam it up and add a seed stitch border around the sleeves.
The weather is finally turning warm here, so I'm looking forward to wearing this sweater soon!

Spring Fling '08 - and fun times were had by all
There have been plenty of great recaps - check out Sheri's, Wendy's, and Cookie's blogs, for starters - but I think Tammy's song sums it up best!
Look at this stuff, isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl, the girl who has everything?
Look at this trove, treasures untold. How many fibers can one building hold?
Looking around here you'd think, sure, she's got everything!
I've got Lorna's and Smooshy a-plenty, I've got Casbah and Noro galore.

You want Wollmeise? I've got twenty!
But who cares, no big deal, I want MORE......
I want to be where the Groupies are, I want to see, want to see them knitting!
Running around taking classes from Cookie A.
Knitting cuff down you don't get too far, toe-up's required for faster progress.
Don't pick up your wraps on your heels - Wendy says it's okay!
Up where we knit, up where we spin, up where we made new wonderful friends
THANK YOU SHERI - for letting us be part of your world.

Time for the Fling!

![]()
I'll be headed off to st. Louis this afternoon with Tammy for my very first knitting retreat - The Loopy Ewe's Spring Fling. I'm signed up for classes by both Wendy and Cookie A. It' the first time I've actually taken a knitting class, so I'm really interested to see how they go. I'm sure it will be great. The Spring Fling board on Ravelry has been buzzing about this event for months, so it will be nice to finally meet everyone in person.
But first - I've gotta go work half a day!

Where I've Been
I'm back from Florida, and the weekend has been quite a blur! It's still not over yet, but I have about an hour of downtime before I have to head back to church for a Bible study then a Trivia Night youth fundraiser. This picture was taken standing on the balcony of my hotel room in Coral Springs, FL (outside Fort Lauderdale). I was there for an airport lawyers' conference, which was very educational. I also met a lot of other people who do what I do (which, let's face it, there aren't that many airport lawyers around!) so that was really nice. I also had a chance to knit with a Ft. Lauderdale knitting group, the Sweet Stitchin' Betties, last Monday night. I love that no matter where you go, knitters all speak the same language. Their group is a lot bigger than mine, so it was pretty neat to see the group interaction and meet some of them.

More randomness
I thought of a few more random things to update since my mini-blog hiatus.
- Rock Band! This is the only video game I have ever enjoyed playing. We already had the guitars from Guitar Hero, so we were able to get the game without spending any money on all the "instruments." A few days ago, my husband sent me a twitter: "I have a present for you." Intriguing, right? When I got home, there was a huge box in the middle of the entryway - I opened it up, and what do you know? The drums for Rock Band! I'm terrible at them, but it will still be really fun to have people over and be able to have 4 people play instead of 3. Plus, I really appreciate having the drums going to drown me out if I'm singing!!
- Twitter. Bad-influence-friend Kate managed to talk Tammy and I into using Twitter. It's pretty fun to get little updates from people throughout the day. I'm zarah on there if you want to follow me.

I'm here!
Wow, it's been a while since I posted..... Let's see, what have I been up to?
- Trying to stay really focused at work so I don't leave any loose ends when I jet off to Florida next week for a aviation legal issues conference. (And a bit of knitting with the Sweet Stitchin' Betties!)
- Knitting bits and pieces of various projects. I'm not really feeling super-focused on any one project, although I am happy to report that I blocked the H-E-double hockey sticks out of it, and it looks MUCH better now. I finished sewing the hooks and eyes on just a few minutes ago at Knit Together, so I should have finished photos pretty soon.
- Running! (Well, when we aren't getting torrential rains, that is!) I think I've picked out my next triathlon, so I'm pretty excited to get back to swimming and biking, too. I swam last night for the first time, and I felt pretty good. I know it's a stupid thing, but I've finally figured out how to get my googles to quit leaking. Hooray!

Ugh!
Those on Ravelry will recognize that sentiment.Glee is finished (mostly - ends not woven in yet), but I'm not thrilled. It's kinda big and bulky, when it was supposed to be sleek and streamlined.... grrrrrrr.
I've got some ideas on how to fix it. I'll keep you posted!
