Out of Bloffice
The weather is warm... the birds are chirping... and I just can't get that excited about blogging these days. I'm sure once the humidity hits 95% I'll be a lot more excited about it. =)In the meantime, I'll be running, biking, and swimming to train for the Concreteman sprint tri in July, knitting a little bit, taking a trip to Austin, attending a fiber festival, and making a quilt for my friend Brianne's daughter's 1st birthday, and generally spending as much time outside as possible.
I'll probably pop in to post pictures from time to time. See ya!

Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to my little sister (how can you be 26? When I moved out away to college you were only 16!) and my blog (2! Uh oh.... the terrible twos?)I'm taking the weekend off, then I'll be back with updated photos of the Cobblestone Sweater, the Monkey socks, and more! Now that summer is winding down, I hope to get back to a more regular blogging schedule.

Friday Night Knitting Club
First - let's give props to our favorite celebrity knitter, Julia Roberts...... because she just signed on to star in a movie called Friday Night Knitting Club! (Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it will be out until 2008, but just think of the possibilities! We could swarm every movie theater in the country and cover it with hand-knitted goodness! People should never be cold in movie theatres again!)And now for some more local news: Simply Fibers is hosting a Knit-In this Friday from 6-10pm. I won't be able to stay for very long, because I'm going to run a 5K at Silver Dollar City ion Friday with all the Christmas lights. (I know, it's too early for Christmas, but I couldn't pass it up, it sounds like a really cool race.)
The Lizard Ridge squares are coming along nicely! I finished one, and I have almost finished reknitting the one I messed up the first time around. Noro rocks.

Dang.
Dang it! I lost my stupid camera battery charger. I have socktoberfest sock beginnings to show you, too! Does anyone know where I put it? (Tonight I start the full-out search. Could it be in one of my million craft/tote bags? Probably.)
I might start volunteering to teach knitting at one of the Boys & Girls Clubs in Springfield. I contacted the volunteer cordinator today, so I'm excited to see what happens! Any advice for teaching knitting to kids?

So you think you can KNIT
Now don't get too excited, I'm not creating yet another competitive knitting challenge, I'm just declaring my love for the cheesiest show on TV - it is totally a guilty pleasure, but I love it. (Although, using that show as a model for a knitting competition would be quite hilarious - pitting knitters of all different styles against each other in styles they are not accustomed to, then having a "knit for your life" challenge at the end to see who gets kicked off? Hee hee.)
Anyway, back to the original point of this post. I don't know if anyone else watches this show but last night's episode was SO good. All the couples are starting to dance really well together and it's just like watching them grow up before my eyes... so cute.
Thank you for all your nice comments on the hat! I really like it too, even though its obviously way to hot to wear it right now. It will go in the Christmas gift stash! I have about another skein and a half (the same amount I used to make the hat - 50g skeins), what should I do with it? Here are my thoughts:
a. Make another hat just like the last one
b. Make a different hat
c. Make some kind of accessory to match the hat (but what?)
d. Add it to my log cabin blanket
e. Stash it
Carla is coming along nicely, as well. I figured out how to correct my mistakes in the pattern without ripping (every other stitch is a yarnover - not fun), so that is really good. I should have the front finished soon to show you.

Happy Friday!

Well, I don't have much to report on the knitting front. Whenever I unearth that log cabin quilt to add some scraps, I get all motivated and want to finish it (ha!) So I've mostly been rooting through my yarn looking for odds and ends that I can add to it. But there's not much progress to show, so here are some pictures of my friends.
This picture is of two of my best high school friends. I visited them last weekend in Jeff City. Corrie (on the right) secretly got married two weeks ago. I guess it wasn't a total secret, since her and her hubby's families were invited, but I didn't know until I got an announcement in the mail! It's okay though. They've been dating like 8 year or soemthing, so at this point it's like, "It's about time!"
We all look pretty good in this picture (if I do say so myself!) considering we had stayed up til 2 the night before talking. I guess I should get together with them more often, huh?
This is a picture of the women's Bible study that I have been going to. It's a neat group because even though we all go to church together and have a lot in common, each person really has a lot of unique things to share with the group. Yay for friends in Springfield - this was my biggest fear when I was moving here about a year and a half ago. But luckily I have met lots of really nice people.
Have a good weekend everyone! I have a couple of knitting-related events to attend, so I should have lots of good pics next week. Carol at Simply Fibers is hosting another Knit-In tonight from 6pm to midnight, then my knitting group is getting together on Sunday afternoon. A couple of my friends recently found out they're pregnant, so I'm looking forward to seeing all the little baby things being knit.

Random stuff
Lolly has an interesting project
planned starting in March -- it is all about using color. That is oen thing I am not very good at, whether in knitting, decorating my house, or even coordinating my own wardrobe. (Sometimes I have to ask my husband if I'm fit to leave the house.) =) The other neat thing about her project is that it incorporates all kinds of arts and crafts, all based on color. She has different colors picked out for each month starting in March.
I was in my husband's sister's wedding last weekend. I have some pics to show you, but my stupid flickr account is full for the month. I'll have to work on that.
Simply Fibers, a yarn shop here in Springfield, is hosting a "Knit-In" this Friday night from 6-midnight. I'll be there, will you? (If you haven't been there before, it's on South Campbell behind Andy's Custard.) It was also featured in this month's 417 Magazine!
